Good evening,
In response to the events of Friday, I conducted a walkthrough of Prairie Heights Elementary with Chief Tatum and some of his HFD staff on Sunday. Today we purchased alarms and installed them in every classroom and hallways as well as office areas and the kitchen. The building is now covered by alarms. Second, the faulty sources are in the process of repair and the building is safe for attendance for all students and staff.
Understandably, there will be many questions and we will answer them as we receive responses from the experts. Additionally, there has been some concern about communications. Please know that communications are my responsibility and any concerns should be addressed directly to me. Please feel free to call me at 719-683-2247 ext 305 and I will respond upon return to the office.
We understand that this is frustrating but rest assured, our team has your student’s health, safety and welfare as our first priority. Your support is greatly appreciated.
