Meet Mrs. Rogers

Hi my name is Debbie Rogers and I am the 2016-17 Kindergarten teacher. I am very excited to still be working at Prairie Heights.

I graduated from Regis University having received my Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education in May of 2015. I am licensed to teach Pre-K through 3rd grade and feel very blessed to have been offered the chance to teach such a wonderful group of children.

I have been married to my husband Scott, who is also a teacher, for 31 years and we have 2 adult children. My family has been very supportive of my decision to become a teacher. We have lived in El Paso County for 20 years and my children graduated from small schools here on the eastern plains. Both of which continued their education at small colleges. My son graduated from Montana Tech and my daughter is currently a junior at Fort Hays State University in Kansas.

With small school education having been a big part of my family’s life I am very happy to be teaching in a small school. I love the opportunity to have a class small enough that I can provide each child with some one on one attention each day or as needed.

I have provided all the students with a daily planner, unlike the upper grade teachers, I will not be having the student write their homework in the planner but I do expect them to be responsible for taking home every night. By using the planner for notes home, to send homework home, and to give you a place to track reading minutes, I hope to begin the process of them being responsible for the planner that they will be using in following years to keep track of homework assignments.

Mrs. Stephanie Reed is my full time para-professional. She typically works one on one with a student but helps out where needed and as she can. Stephanie is also a product of small town El Paso County. She has 3 children, a son who is in the 6th grade, a daughter who is a senior in high school and a daughter graduated a few years ago and is starting a family of her own. Stephanie has a grandson that is a year and a half and will be welcoming a granddaughter in January.

She has worked with students of special needs on and off for many years. We are blessed to have her in our class full time.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. I am here to help your child succeed in the beginning years of they educational career and want to provide them with everything they will need to move on to 1st grade next year.
