Planning Ahead (Important Longer-Term Deadlines)

Tips to Maximize Scholarship Success

  • Create a Calendar
    • Organize deadlines from now through April/May 2026 — prioritize those due soon (Jan–Mar);
  • Start Essays & Materials Early
    • Many require essays, transcripts, and recommendations;
  • Use Scholarship Search Tools
    • Sites like Scholarships360, Going Merry, Scholarships.com, and your school counseling resources can match more scholarships to your profile; and
  • Local Opportunities Matter
    • Many community foundations, credit unions, and service organizations offer scholarships with better chances of winning.
