JUNIOR HIGH MATCHWITS

Matchwits is a knowledge competition that is played by teams made up of four individuals answering questions covering all areas of academia. This includes questions from current literature, all the sciences, math, history, geography, and current world events. Hanover competes in the Black Forest League against several other private and public schools. The regular season ends with the BFL Knowledge Bowl competition in which the top teams qualify for state competition.

At the Middle School level (6th – 8th grades), interested students come to a weekly after-school practice session in order to prepare for the meets.  To join, contact Ms. Lynch

SENIOR HIGH MATCHWITS

At the High School level (Grades 9-12), Matchwits students practice weekly for monthly meets in the fall between October and February. The points for each match accumulate through the final meet.  At that time, the winners are awarded.  In addition, the Matchwits team competes in the district Knowledge Bowl tournament for a chance to compete at State Knowledge Bowl Competition held in April.

For more information, please contact Ms. Lynch.

HIVY LEAGUE

League: Junior High school student council

SENIOR HIGH STUDENT COUNCIL

Student Council: In student council, students are nominated by their peers to be the voice of the student body. Student council meets weekly to discuss school events, concerns, and leadership.

DIVERSITY AWARENESS CLUB

Our goal in Diversity Awareness Club is to make others aware of people who are different from themselves and give everyone a voice so that we can strengthen our Hanover Hornet community. We plan monthly activities and prizes to celebrate the achievements and community building efforts of all students.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

National Honor Society: The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization. Selection is based on four criteria: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. We do an individual and community service project each year, as well as participating in Drive Smart Colorado. This club is a great leadership opportunity. You must be invited to apply.

Dear Parents, Staff, and Teachers,

This is not the way I hoped to make first contact with many of you. Unfortunately,  the district has experienced an unfortunate failure that has interrupted the water supply to the Admin and JSHS facilities.

Because of this, I,  with input from the board, have decided to push school opening at least one week, as we assess the issue and devise a remedy.  For now, new staff will report on August 9th, all staff will be at District training on August 10th, Building training will take place on August 11th, and classes will begin on August 12th.

Please feel free to contact your school or District administrator if you have any questions. As always I am available to talk at any time. We appreciate your patience during this delay.

Thank you and we’re looking forward to an excellent new school year for The Hornet Nation.

Best,
Kyle Cooper
