The Hanover School District 28 Board of Education is seeking qualified community members to fill two vacant director positions on the school board.
Following the official declaration of vacancy at an upcoming board meeting, the board has 60 days from the date the vacancy occurred to appoint qualified individuals to these positions.
About the Position
School board members play a vital role in shaping the future of our schools and ensuring quality education for all students in our community. Directors work collaboratively to establish policies, oversee the budget, and provide strategic direction for the district.
Responsibilities Include:
- Attending regular board meetings (typically held monthly)
- Reviewing and voting on district policies and budgets
- Representing the interests of students, families, and the community
- Working with district administration to support educational excellence
- Participating in board committees and special meetings as needed
Qualifications:
- Must be a registered elector of Hanover School District 28 for at least 12 consecutive months before the election
- Must be a resident of the school district
- Commitment to public education and student success
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills
- No prior board experience required—training will be provided

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The Board of Education of Hanover School District in the County of El Paso, State of Colorado, calls for nomination of candidates for School Directors to be placed on the ballot for the biennial school election to be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
At this election three (2) directors will be elected for a term of office of four years. To be qualified, a candidate must have been a registered elector of the school district for at least 12 consecutive months before the election. A person is ineligible to run for school director if he or she has been convicted of committing a sexual offense against a child.
A person who desires to be a candidate for school director shall file a written notice of intention to be a candidate and a nomination petition signed by at least 25 eligible electors who are registered to vote in the regular biennial school election. Nomination petitions may be obtained at Hanover School Admin office. Please call Patricia Petrukitas at 719-683-2247 ext. 306 to make an appointment to pick up a petition.
Completed petitions shall be submitted to Patricia Petrukitas no later than 12:00 pm on August 29, 2025.
